The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) recommends that organizations stay especially vigilant during this time of year, as cybercriminals “may view holidays and weekends – especially holiday weekends—as attractive timeframes in which to target potential victims, including small and large businesses.” However, the 2022 MDDR reports numbers indicating a shift toward year-round attacks. Looking at the chart below, you can see the spike in distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks between August 2021 and September 2021, with August 10, 2021 holding the highest number of attacks.
